A Story Cafe | Jack Frost

Today's story - Jack Frost by Kazuna Kohara.  It's been very cold and frosty here lately, so this time we are looking at a frosty, white, snowy story of friendship, cold weather, and warming up to new growth in Spring.

Story Props

I made a Jack Frost stick puppet, and recycled a frosty snowflake puppet from another story.

We made some story props to take home and had a go at kneading some dough, painting snowflakes with cotton reels, gluing frosty pictures and making Jack Frost stick puppets.  Here are some of our creations...

Snack Time
We shared grapes, breadsticks and a drink.

Carpet time at the end

We sang The Listening Song (and I forgot the words...oh dear), and we read some poems from Wriggle and Roar by Nick Sharratt, pretending to be a tiny seed growing into a big tree swaying in the wind.  Everyone went home with a family challenge, a playdough recipe, and a book to share, an of course, all their story props so they could go home and retell the story of Jack Frost.
