Families arrived at Story Cafe today to find lots of rubber ducks and numbers to play with:
We read 10 Little Rubber Ducks by Eric Carle, using a collection of story props including lorry, rubber ducks, seal, seagull, whale, octopus, turtle, pelican, flamingo, dolphin and polar bear.
Children joined in with the animal noises, and with counting how many ducks were left. Then families went off to make some story props to take home in their little story bag. Here's some of what they made:
We finished off the Story Cafe after a snack, with the story again and some singing which included "5 little ducks went swimming one day". All the children went home with a certificate, a free picture book and a family challenge.
