Chinese New Year | what we did today!

We've been telling the Chinese New Year story today.  So as an update to the last post, here's what we did.

We read the Chinese New Year story - I downloaded it from Twinkl website, but actually it worked really well as a story to tell without using a book.

My props included: all the animals from the story (cat, rat, ox, dragon, tiger, rabbit, snake, goat, horse, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.  A blue cloth for the river.  And the cards which show the order in which the animals crossed the river.

We read the story, used the props to help with our story telling, and then the children made up their own narratives from the props which were left out for them to explore.

And lunch was noodles, mini corn on the cob and mangetout peas - which made a terrible mess but the children all tried some!

Enjoy your Chinese New Year week!
