It's Children's Book Week | Let's celebrate

Apparently it's Children's Book Week this week.  I've just come across this while looking for a list of Best Books for Babies on Book Trust's excellent website.

So lets all celebrate everything that's brilliant about children's books.  Here's a list of my all time favourite authors and illustrators and some links to the Book Trust website.

Favourites | Authors and Illustrators
  • Eric Carle - try "Brown bear, brown bear"
  • Mick Inkpen - have you read "Baggy Brown" it's great.
  • Nick Sharratt - we love "You Choose"
  • Shirley Hughes - her wonderful Alfie and Annie Rose books
  • Julia Donaldson - a classic "The Gruffalo"
  • Maurice Sendak - "Where the wild things are"
  • Rod Campbell - "Dear Zoo" flaps to uncover
  • Mo Willems - just discovered these and love the illustrations - "Don't let the pigeon drive the bus"
Many more on my pinterest board "Stories, stories, stories".

Book Trust website has some really useful stuff including book lists for different age groups, including

AND, their Children's Book Guide 2013 which is available as a download on their website here.

I hope you can find some wonderful inspiration.
