BOOK REVIEW | Grandad's Island

Grandad's Island by Benji Davies.

I love picture book art, and this one is beautiful.  The pictures are colourful, expressive and full of life.  And it's printed on lovely thick matt pages, a pleasure to turn.

BOOK REVIEW | Ice in the Jungle

Ice in the Jungle by Ariane Hofmann-Maniyar

Child's Play sent me this new picture book, and it's come at exactly the right time of year.  It's all about dealing with transitions, perfect for July in England when we are talking about the children going up the their new schools in September.

A Story Cafe | Transitions to school

Today we read How do dinosaurs go to school by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague, and Dinosaur Roar by Paul and Henrietta Stickland, along with Dinosaurs love Underpants by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort.  I wanted to use transitions to school as our theme, and dinosaurs as most 3-4 year olds love dinosaurs!!

A brilliant rhyming story, revealing the REAL reason why the dinosaurs become extinct... hilarious!
