A Story Cafe | The Happy Hedgehog Band

This week at Story Cafe we shared The Happy Hedgehog Band by Jill Barton.
Families listened to the story and joined in with the noisy noises..."BOOM!"  Here's my pictorial guide to what we did today...

Children explored the invitations to play and resources provided.  We explored leaves, with lots of animals hidden amongst them.  We explored glue and were invited to stick some willow tree leaves to a shape to create a hedgehog stick puppet.  We explored the sounds when we put some pasta in a tub, secured the lid, and gave it a good shake.  And we explored autumn colours with crayons and paper.

We shared a snack and a drink, and then came back together at the end to sing some songs.  We sang Old Macdonald had a band, the Music Time song, and Who's in the Box?

Today was an extra special Story Cafe, we had a Visiting Artist come along to do live drawing of children and adults sharing stories.  This sounds very brilliant doesn't it?  Have a look below for some of what Rose created.

Here's me reading the story!

Can you spot Arthur in his dinosaur suit?

All the children chose a picture book to take home, and got a Story Cafe sticker to prompt conversations at home.

Story Cafe is a stay and play session for families and other carers with children aged 0-4, inspiring a love of stories and picture books, encouraging story-sharing at home, and promoting children's early communication and language development.

Story Cafe is funded in 2023-2024 by Norfolk County Council Early Childhood Community Fund, and The National Lottery Community Fund
