What I read | January / February 2020

(my image - Afan Valley, South Wales, December 2019)
Reclaim Early Childhood by Sebastian and Tamara Suggate - see the review blog post here https://itsallaboutstories.blogspot.com/2020/01/book-review-reclaim-early-childhood-too.html)

The Labyrinth of the Spirits by Carlos Ruiz Zafon - I'd been waiting years for the last instalment of the Cemetery of Forgotten Books series.  Its a big book, but it ties together all the loose ends from the last 3 books.  Brilliant story telling as always from Carlos Ruiz Zafon.

At the end of the rainbow by Vibeke Flatman - lovely life cycle story

Tabitha and the Raincloud by Devon Sillett and Melissa Johns (EK books) - we all have a day where we feel like we are under a cloud sometimes...

William Bee's Wonderful World of Tractors and Farm Machines by William Bee (Pavillion Books) - great graphic design illustrations from the brilliant Willam Bee.

Please Mr Panda by Steve Anthony (from the library) - the children loved this.  And I am always reminding them to think about what Mr Panda would say...

Pip and Posy, the new friend by Axel Scheffler (from the library) - a lovely little tale of making new friends and how you feel if a seagull swipes your ice cream.

Taller and Shorter from Usborne books (from the library) - really great for comparing sizes

How do you feel by Mandy Stanley (my own copy) - and my happy / sad wooden spoon - this encouraged and inspired lots of talk about feelings which was lovely

In the Garden by Noelle Smit from Little Island Books (www.littleisland.ie) - beautifully illustrated look at the garden through the seasons.

Children's Picturebooks, the visual art of storytelling by Martin Salisbury and Morag Styles (Laurence King publishing) - a must for anybody interested in, or studying, illustration and picturebook art.

Grumpy Frog by Ed Vere - he was very grumpy, but the pink rabbit soon helped to cheer him up.

Bob and the river of time by James Garner (Crown house publishing) - Bob's river journey looking at all the flora and fauna on his way.

Movement, your child's first language by Sally Goddard-Blythe (Hawthorn Press) - interesting and informative look at development of movement and how vital it is for brain development.

The World of Whales by Darcy Dobbell and Becky Thorns (Little Gestalten) - everything you ever wanted to know about whales, and beautifully illustrated too.

Puffin Peter by Petr Horacek (my own copy) - one of the puffins goes missing and the other takes a ride with a whale to find him.

Slinky Malinki by Lynley Dodd (my own copy) - I love these and had forgotten how much.  The children were sucked into the story right from the first rhyming page. And then wanted to hear it again, and then again...
